Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (Matthew 7:13 & 14) Do you know the address of your residency?
Are you wandering aimlessly in life? Believe it or not, there are adults who do not know the physical address (including the numbers and street) of where they live! Actually, I find that astounding because this was one of the first important facts we were taught in elementary school. It was important in the event we ever became lost and needed to be reunited with our family.Although you may unequivocally know the physical location of where you reside, do you know your spiritual address? Do you need a GPS to guide you home?
Jesus spoke of two entrances and two roads, each leading to different destinations (addresses): the first entrance is the wide gate, the second the strait or narrow gate. After passing the wide gate, you enter a road called Broadway–where the lights are bright and there are bustling throngs of people. By contrast, the strait gate leads to the road known as the Narrow way, and just a few travel on it. Each road leads to a permanent home. The way of the world (Broadway) leads to destruction, but the Narrow way (the way of Christ) leads to Eternal Life. It sounds so simple to know which direction one should take, but all too often many want to follow the crowd and do what everyone else is doing. But I remember a sermon preached by my paternal grandfather, and admonish you to heed to the title of his message: ”Stay Off of Broadway!”
